The course is an introduction to family history. You will look at sources of information, among them Parish Registers, Census information from 1901 and before, and information available to you in Somerset House. You will branch out from these to examine the social and cultural background of the people you are interested in. Your basic material will be what you know about your own families, and you will be helped to put that information into a pattern which makes sense of your ancestry, helping you to answer questions you have often asked about grandparents and great grandparents. There will also be the opportunity to have a tour around the New Carlisle Archive Centre.
