This 30 week course leads to an A2 qualification. The course aims to build on the AS level course (units 1&2) with 2 further units of study (3&4 investigation and interpretation). These units require a more in-depth and synoptic study of two art historical periods in order to understand formal features, materials and techniques, subject matter and function in painting, sculptures and architecture. At this level historical, social, economic and cultural contexts will be considered alongside philosophical and art historical concepts and ideas. The 2 topics studied will be Art & Architecture in the 16th Century Europe and Art & Architecture in the 19th Century Europe
