MAKE YOUR OWN CLOTHES

Starting from scratch, learn how to make your own clothes or recycle your old garments. You will work on your own individual projects and be guided through the techniques needed, which may include; using a paper pattern, cutting out, stitching, fitting the garment and caring for the fabric. Add a bit of flair and individuality to your wardrobe and start saving the planet and some money! Learn sewing techniques, both hand and machine.
Please note: a sewing kit is required and if possible bring your own sewing machine and find out how it works!

MAKE DO AND MEND WORKSHOP

Saturday 6th March 2010 - 10am - 3.00pm
The Wooden Hut, Brampton COMMUNITY Centre
A one day workshop for all levels, you will bring your own items of clothing to mend, adjust or transform. Hems, patches, taking in or out, repairing old items of clothing, replacing zips, sewing on buttons, all these types of topics will be looked at. The workshop will introduce you to some basic sewing techniques and give you confidence to tackle bigger projects. Learn how to use your sewing machine and get the most out of it. Individual help will be given to those who need it, enabling them to tackle a project all by themselves. You will learn a wide variety of hand and machine sewing techniques, including cutting fabric and garments, pressing, tacking and machine stitching with confidence. It is a great way to get you sewing and save money.
