This course is an introduction to the Big Questions that have exercised great minds for 2000 years. Who are you really? Does your life have meaning? Why do we die ? Is there a God? Has the Universe any purpose? How does one live 'The Good Life'? Students will look at some of the great philosophers have tackled tese questions. And you will be guided through techniques to improve your critical thinking skills.

This course will consider the search for truth through reason or ewxperience by discussing the ideas and lives of 6 philosophers - The contintal rationalists- Descartes, Spinoza and Leibnitz - and the British Empiricists - Locke, Berkeley and Hume.
